Bio

Hola! My name is Renee, but most of my students call me Señora. I am currently a teacher at a high performing high school in the western suburbs of Chicago. I fell in love with the Spanish language when I was a high school student. Since then I have traveled abroad extensively in Mexico and Spain. I also married into a Mexican family so speaking Spanish is part of my daily life outside of the classroom as well. While teaching Spanish is my profession, it is also my passion. I come to you...

I come to you with over 25 years of experience in the classroom having held my current position in my current school for over 19 years where my department head and principal have always evaluated me as an excellent teacher. My students enjoy working with me, and often ask if I teach the level after theirs as well.

As much as I love my time in the classroom with my students, I often find that students experience the most success when working one-on-one with me. I have seen this when offering extra help to my struggling students and with my own children (currently a high school senior and a college student) when they needed extra support with topics in Spanish.

I especially enjoy helping students improve their speaking and writing skills. I am also an expert with tips and tricks to master some of the Spanish language's more challenging grammatical concepts like the preterit vs. the imperfect, the subjunctive, ser vs. estar, and por vs. para. ¡Estoy lista para ayudarte! (I'm ready to help you!)

I want to help my students improve as much as possible so any information and resources that the student (or their parent) can share will help me further tailor our lessons for success. I am easy to reach as my phone is always at hand. I look forward to hearing from you, and please feel free to reach out with any questions.
