Bio

My family and I relocated back to the United States after being overseas for 13 ½ years. Our longest stay was in Singapore, where our son was born and where we stayed for 10 years. In Singapore, and while in-between IT jobs, I entered the teaching industry and applied for a Freelance English Teaching job. I did not have a teacher certificate and yet, I was successful in landing my first freelance teaching job. I expanded my teaching career and took on other free lance teaching opportunities...

My family and I relocated back to the United States after being overseas for 13 ½ years. Our longest stay was in Singapore, where our son was born and where we stayed for 10 years. In Singapore, and while in-between IT jobs, I entered the teaching industry and applied for a Freelance English Teaching job. I did not have a teacher certificate and yet, I was successful in landing my first freelance teaching job. I expanded my teaching career and took on other free lance teaching opportunities with other companies. This, while keeping abreast in IT by obtaining a part-time job in Data Entry and by volunteering as an Interactive Deployment Analyst and Content Manager for the American Women's Association of Singapore.

Now, I am ready to combine my IT and teaching experience in the United States. I hope to benefit and improve the lives of my future students through teaching the MS Office Suite, SQL concepts and ESL.

I received several MS Excel Certifications during my professional career. The first one was in 2008 sponsored by my former employer Deutsche Post DHL in Singapore. The second one was training hosted by a Temple University Chapter in Singapore. The second and third ones were training courses received in 2015 and provided by New Horizons Computer Learning Center of Singapore. My 2015 Excel training courses were advanced Excel courses.

During my education and 13+ years of experience in the IT industry, I gained experience in the following applications in the MS Office Suite - MS Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel. I have a solid background in Database Technologies and can teach basic SQL. Currently, I am updating my skills in Business Intelligence by taking an online-based training course on Tableau via Linkedln Learning and Lynda.com.

I have about 4 years experience teaching English to school-aged children and adults. I teach conversational skills, grammar, sentence construction or sentence compositions. I can also proofread essays and short/Long articles or other pieces of work. I am available Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 - 2:00 p.m. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, I am available from 9:00 - 3:00 p.m. On Saturdays, it has to be pre-arranged. I am an IT Professional with a sound knowledge base in MS Access and other database management systems. I took an Advanced Programming Course on MS Access while working on my undergraduate degree. I saw the power of MS Access on my first assignment as an Associate Information Systems Analyst. I managed the HelpDesk application written in MS Access with VBA scripting. Each week, I ran reports that queried the number of open, closed and pending helpdesk issues and presented the reports to my manager. While working in Singapore as a Technical Assistant Manager, I extracted unknown business partner names from various sub-systems found in a source database by utilizing MS Access queries to select and extract the data.

I have been using Excel since my college years in the 90’s. After obtaining my Masters degree in Computer Information Systems, I took an MS Excel Expert Certification class. I went ahead and continued learning MS Excel, attending three paid Advanced Excel training classes. The topics covered were Goal-Seeking, Data Analysis, graphs creation, pivot tables, creating macros.
