I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology, a master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, and a master's degree in Social Work from Southern Illinois University. I have worked in a wide variety of human service jobs over the years. I am a veteran of the Vietnam era. I have experience going to Africa on two occasions on mission trips. On one of the trips I spoke to fourth year pastoral students on use of grief literature in their communities. Another presentation was a day of training for the ladies of a church in Nairobi on human interest topics as they relate to their lives. I taught English to Japanese people in Okinawa while I was in that country. Because of a wide variety of experiences in my life, I can help you prepare for your goals, both short term and long term.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a bachelor's and two masters degrees. I have a long history of studying, in school, at work, and in the military. I have tutored Japanese students in English when I was in Okinawa during those two years. I had student interns while working at DCFS who were working on their bachelors degrees. I was the senior social worker so I had students every semester for at least five years. I am currently tutoring an 8 year old in math skills.
