I received my associates degree in nursing in 2000. In 2017 I received my master's degree in nursing education and taught at the local community college for 8.5 years. I received my associates degree in nursing in 2000. In 2017 I received my master's degree in nursing education and taught at the local community college for 8.5 years. My specialty was nursing skills and simulation, as well as cardiac and other disease process, medications, pediatrics and maternity. Nursing skills and simulation are a great place to put all of the pieces of the puzzle together while in nursing school (theory, clinical, and skills). You have to know how something works (inside the body and out), to understand how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. This helps foster critical thinking which is so important for nurses to master.

Throughout my tenure of instructing nursing students, I had many one-on-one tutoring sessions. Sharing with a student on a one-to-one basis is one of the most rewarding experiences because no one else has the instructor's attention, and the focus of instruction is only for that student for their personal learning needs. I have had the privilege of instructing students as young as 15 to as old as 60.

My method of teaching is meeting the student where they are in the learning process. If a student's level of understanding is at the beginning, then that is where I meet them. If that student's level of understanding is on a higher level, then I know we can go beyond the basics and tackle the more harder to understand concepts. Understanding what a student needs requires a back and forth dialogue so that there is a mutual understanding of what is needed for greater student success.

NCLEX

As a nursing educator it is always a joy to watch the a-ha moments from students once they get a concept or put pieces of the puzzle together to effectively answer questions. Answering NCLEX questions takes practice and it can be a daunting task when doing it alone. I love going through NCLEX style questions with students and helping them not only understand what the question is asking, but finding the right answers. Even if answers are wrong, you can still learn!

Best Tutor Ever!

Where do I even begin? I don’t usually write reviews because I never really know what to say, but Tammi has been so amazing that I just have to share my experience. This was my second session with her, and I honestly can’t thank her enough. I'm currently in an advanced placement RN program, and everything feels so rushed. The quality of teaching has really gone downhill—at the end of the day, it's treated more like a business, and it feels like no one really cares what you learn or how you learn it. That’s what makes Tammi so special. She takes the time to prepare a personalized lesson plan for each session. She starts from the basics and breaks things down in a way that actually makes sense. She simplifies the complex stuff without making you feel dumb, which is such a rare quality. She even reviews material from the previous session so you're not just moving on without fully understanding. I usually do two-hour sessions, and honestly, if it wasn’t so late, I’d keep going even longer. Tammi is incredibly patient, kind, and she explains everything clearly. Learning with her is better than going to school. No exaggeration. After just one session, I finally understood how to read EKGs and grasp the heart's electrical conduction system—something my program barely skimmed over. Tammi makes learning fun and effective, and I can’t recommend her enough.

Cardiac Review

Tammi is patient and friendly, her style is warm and encouraging, just like her profile picture. :) I'm a nursing student and I think she's perfect for someone who needs a tutor to fill in the gaps about concepts. I also enjoy doing NCLEX style questions with her to hone my strategies and approach.
