Hello! My name is Jake and I am currently a student at Carthage College majoring in Music Education, with an instrumental emphasis. I play trombone in three major ensembles (wind orchestra, philharmonic orchestra, and jazz band), and I sing in one flagship SATB choir. I am the lead tutor for music theory and aural skills at my college. With my degree being in instrumental music education, I am competent playing and teaching most instruments as well, with my strong suite being in brass. I can teach fundamentals on most brass, woodwind, stringed, and percussive instruments (including guitar and piano).
Aside from instrumental/ensemble playing, I also am very experienced in music production, songwriting, and composition of all degrees. I have released my own music on all streaming platforms and worked with many different artists in a multitude of genres. I also have written works for choral and orchestral groups, some of which are published.
I have been involved in music since I was in fifth grade and loved every moment of it. I love being fully immersed in music of any kind in any way. I am always looking to grow as a musician and to find new experiences. My biggest passion in life truly is to teach, and I am looking for every opportunity to do so.
