My name is Blake, I am from Tremont, Illinois. I currently work at Greenville College as a Coordinator of Resident Education. I graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois in 2014 with a degree in Psychology. I am currently pursing a Master's of Divinity degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I have worked as a Teacher's Aide in Tremont Junior High's Special Education Program where I worked one on one with students to help increase reading and math levels and taught classes once in awhile. I also have experiencing tutoring and Substitute Teaching High School Students in Math. Also, I previously taught Drum and Guitar music lessons. I live in Greenville, Illinois and love my job working with the Residence Life department at Greenville College to help students succeed during their time at college. I have extremely flexible hours and don't mind last second cancellations. I enjoy teaching and have plans to get my PhD in New Testament studies and teach at a University.
I have substituted for high school math and tutored in it as well. Also, I completed multiple college level math courses in areas of Calculus and mostly statistics for my Psychology Degree. I used the program SPSS for statistical analysis of Psychological Testing.
My undergraduate degree is in Psychology. This means I also took multiple Biology courses on Human and Animal Physiology, Chemistry, and plant biology. Also, I am well read in Philosophy and have taken to philosophical courses in my graduate studies which focused on ethics and morality.
I have taken a years worth of Greek biblical studies in New Testament classes for my graduate degree. This is NOT the same as modern Greek so I would not be as much help with that. I am studying Greek from the Koine Period and am continually working to better my knowledge of the language.
I love learning and am passionate about helping others do the same. My philosophy is to always teach someone the "why" of concepts because then the "how" comes easier. I am patient and willing to put in the work to study the material I am teaching more in depth before tutoring the student. I believe every person has the ability to become a good student and learn more. I'm also aware that learning looks different for each person and therefore must be adjusted for their style or preference. My name is Blake, I am from Tremont, Illinois. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
