My primary focus is students in Middle School, High School and College, as well as adults returning to college, with a focus on writing. I have edited two PhD dissertations, edited Master's thesis and Capstone Projects. I have assisted High School Students in writing college essays, and worked on SAT/ACT reading and writing skills to prepare them for not just the test, but the College Level writing and reading skills needed to be successful. I am proficient in APA formatting and assist the student in all aspects of writing.

I am patient with students who have a different learning style and love to encourage students who do not like to read by giving them a purpose for reading. I have been a teaching assistant in a middle school setting for 20 years. I have worked with students in the reading department doing interventions for fluency and comprehension skills. I also have classroom experience in literature, science, and history. I have also been a head coach for the Science Olympiad Team and coached 4-5 events with our school winning 4th place in State. I have also raised a daughter on the autism spectrum who graduated from the University of Dubuque and who recently completed her Masters in Social Work from Saint Mary's University in Minnesota and who is working as a LSW for a local agency.

I received BA in Liberal and Integrative Studies from the University of Illinois, Springfield. My prior corporate experience utilized writing text for advertising as well as editing and typesetting service manuals and owners manuals.

My daughter and I have written a book about autism and have spoken to corporate groups. Prior to becoming a teaching assistant I worked in the electronics industry, video game industry, and newspaper industry. I have proofreading experience, copywriting experience and often help students understand why they are learning the things they are learning and how they can be applied to real world situations.

Great tutor!

I'm very happy that I found Natalie. I don't like to write but she makes me want to write and that's a miracle! I have ADHD and she knows exactly how to explain things in a way that I can understand.

A great tutor that has the patience of a saint

I needed immediate help to revise a PhD paper that was destined to get a failing grade. Natalie responded to my Wyzant email promptly, and we schedule a meeting within 2 days. I brought everything I thought we needed to the meeting and so did Natalie. After reading my paper, and the scoring guide we were ready to began work. Natalie spent hours with me describing the issues my instructor found in the original paper, and why the issues had occurred. I began to see my flaws in the paper, therefore immediately starting working to make the corrections. Throughout the many hours, Natalie remained very patient, stating "we will be here for as long as it takes." The revised paper got a (A) thanks to Natalie's tutoring. I am so grateful that she responded to my email, and I plan on working with her from this point on. Thanks Natalie.
