I’m currently a third-year medical student and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. My academic journey has been grounded in a strong math foundation. In high school, I graduated with a 4.9 GPA while taking all accelerated and honors-level courses. I’m currently a third-year medical student and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. My academic journey has been grounded in a strong math foundation. In high school, I graduated with a 4.9 GPA while taking all accelerated and honors-level courses. I earned 5’s on the majority of my AP exams, including a 5 on AP Calculus BC, and consistently performed at the top of my class.

I have over three years of formal tutoring experience, working at Mathnasium where I taught students ranging from elementary school through high school. During my time there, I focused on one-on-one instruction and small group sessions, helping students develop conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills across subjects including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. I adapted my teaching to meet individual student needs, using visual aids, verbal reasoning, and practice problems to make abstract concepts clear and accessible.

Prior to Mathnasium, I volunteered as a high school peer tutor, working primarily with students in Algebra and Geometry. Across both experiences, I’ve worked with learners at a variety of skill levels—from students needing remedial support to those preparing for AP-level coursework or standardized exams.

As someone who has successfully navigated a rigorous academic path and now studies medicine, I bring patience, professionalism, and a deep understanding of how to make challenging material approachable. My tutoring style is supportive and structured—I aim to build students’ confidence alongside their competence.

Pharmacology

I am a second-year medical student with a strong grasp of pharmacology, having successfully completed my medical school pharmacology course with high marks. This course covered not only the mechanisms of action, indications, and side effects of hundreds of drugs, but also the foundational principles of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, receptor physiology, and clinical applications — all with the depth and rigor expected in a medical curriculum. What makes me a strong tutor is my ability to connect drug mechanisms to disease processes, helping students go beyond memorization and actually understand why medications are used, how they work, and what adverse effects to look out for. I am especially skilled at organizing information in digestible ways (think charts, mnemonics, and clinical scenarios) to help you retain large volumes of content efficiently. Whether you're preparing for a pharmacology exam, board prep, or struggling with specific drug classes like antibiotics, cardiovascular drugs, or neuropsych meds, I can help you master the material with confidence.

Shannon was great with my daughter helping her with her writing. She is learning to understand how to write better and I look forward to my daughter's rising confidence as a result!

Super Knowledgeable, Intentional, and Supportive Tutor

Shannon and I reviewed Neuroanatomy together, and I couldn't have asked for a better tutor. She took incredibly complex concepts and intentionally broke them down in a way that was clear, engaging, and truly understandable. Her ability to meet me where I was, adapt to my learning style, and build my confidence made a huge difference in how I approached the material. Shannon is not only knowledgeable, but also incredibly supportive and thoughtful in her teaching approach. I genuinely looked forward to every session—she made a tough subject feel manageable and even enjoyable. Highly recommend!
