I have been a professional actress, teacher and communication trainer for the past thirty years. I am a Illinois certified teacher (6-12) in communication, theatre and English. I received my Bachelor of Arts at Loras College in communications and my Masters in Theatre Performance from the esteemed Northwestern University. I have performed in professional and community theatre since I was a teenager. Some of my favorite roles include, Dolly in "Hello Dolly!", Eliza in "My Fair Lady", Joanne in "Company". The Wicked Witch in "The Wizard of Oz" and Mrs. Keller in "The Miracle Worker." I have also pursued the film industry and have performed in many commercials, industrial films, voice over and television.
I have been the head speech team coach for thirty six year with some of the most prestige North Shore High Schools in Chicago. I have advanced over twenty students to our competitive IHSA State Speech series and have had the pleasure of having two State Champions! I have also advanced students to the National Speech and Debate Tournaments.
I have taught theatre, English and communications in Middle School and High School. I am very good at challenging my students but understanding the fears that might go along with public speaking and on stage performances. They learn to take direction, listen, communicate their messages to the audience and show performance energy. It is all about taking it off themselves and putting it on their audience so they receive the message.
When out of the classroom or not on stage, I have given communication training to such organizations as the Hilton Palmer House Hotel, Ronald Mcdonald's House Charity, local politicians, college bound students and Hilton Human Resource Seminars. I have worked with individuals perfecting a TED talk presentation, giving a speech, storytelling, classroom presentation, college or professional theatre auditions, and interview techniques.
