Ever since I can remember, I have always had the desire to work with students. The enjoyment and fulfillment I receive from being around children has inspired a passion within me to help my students learn and grow academically. I strive to work with them and guide them in the learning process in order to spark their intellect. It is my personal objective to mentor my students to help them realize that they can achieve beyond what they ever believed they could accomplish.
I have a vast range of teaching experience that will help me to provide the best support possible while tutoring. Most recently, I was a Fourth Grade Teacher at UNO Carlos Fuentes. In this position I was able to create and implement an engaging curriculum using a 1-to-1 Chromebook Technology. I worked hard to provide a differentiated curriculum to meet all of my students needs. My students NWEA test scores showed that all students ended the year at or above grade level. As a Third Grade Teacher at Alphonsus Academy and Center for the Arts, I was able to grow through a wide variety of professional development and implement this new learning in my classroom. I have been trained in Responsive Classroom, Power of Words, and PlayWorks. I also worked collaboratively with my grade level partner to create multiple art integrated interdisciplinary units. These inquiry based units sparked students’ interests and produced growth towards Third Grade Common Core Standards. Previous to this position, I worked as a First Grade teacher at Garfield Park Preparatory Academy. In this position I helped adapt curriculum to best meet all of my student’s needs. I worked with my colleagues to maintain a classroom environment which nurtured and supported a positive learning environment. It was most gratifying to see the growth in my students in our core subjects, reading and math. This growth was reflected in my students Aimsweb test scores. My prior experience as a Fourth Grade teaching assistant at The Latin School of Chicago enhanced my teaching skills and love
