Hello! My name is Valerie and I'm an elementary education tutor specializing in reading. I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. After teaching middle school students in small group reading instruction, ranging from ages 10-14, I began my graduate studies and received my Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist which helped me focus my teaching on small group and individualized reading instruction to struggling reading at the elementary level, teaching students ages 5-10.
My 12 years of teaching experience has given me a wide array of knowledge in many areas of education but my primary take-away is my ability to create and implement individualized lessons for the specific needs of my students all while keeping my students attention with my high energy personality. This was all put to the test while I taught English to English Language Learners (ELL) online for two years. I'm happy to say I passed that test with flying colors!
