Hi! I have been a tutor of English, Reading, and Writing for 10 years with the major test prep companies. I teach English, Reading, and Writing for ALL VERSIONS OF THE SAT and the ACT. I have had over 200 students, with 90% of them greatly increasing their test scores. I have MANY REFERENCES from satisfied families throughout the Chicagoland area. I have experience working with all kinds of students, including those with learning/processing issues of various kinds, whether or not they have an IEP in school. I am patient and friendly, yet I expect a lot from my students. If they work hard and take things seriously, they will improve their scores, often substantially.

My undergraduate degree was in Liberal Arts (Behavioral Sciences) from the University of Chicago. My training there is the same training I use with my students. What this means is that my students are taught the correct methods to deeply understand what they read. These skills will be very valuable not only for their college entrance exams, but also in school and later in life. There are no real tricks to doing well on these exams. There is a way of THINKING about them which is what will lead to higher scores. I love it when my students "get it" and they start thinking about things in a new way. Many of my students have told me that their high school grades and participation in classes also increase when they use what they have learned.
