I have a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University, where I worked as a calculus teaching assistant in the math department for two years. I have tutored students as young as 12 and as old as 50, totaling more than 1,200 hours, and my background spans courses at all academic levels, from pre-algebra to test prep to multivariable calculus. As a premium tutor, the learning process doesn't stop when the session ends. I'm always available over chat to answer questions, send resources, and offer guidance, and you'll have access to all of our work in a whiteboard, including a color-coded one-sheet summary of the most important material you need to remember.

I know what it takes for a student to learn and love math, and for that to translate into a good grade. As a TA, I graded assignments, proctored exams, held a weekly discussion section and office hours, and led a guest lecture. I was also the champion of Connecticut College’s 2021 Integration Bee, a calculus tournament, and its 2022 Math Olympiad, a proof-based tournament, as well as the school's representative in the Putnam Competition. I am also IXL-trained and certified to use their resources in sessions.

As a TA and a tutor, I have firsthand experience in every aspect of the academic process. I know how courses progress, how exams are structured, and how work is graded.

My goal with any student is to help you build your own unique mental toolkit, through a variety of visual and interactive tools. We'll often work through an example together, and I’ll tell you how I think about each step along the way. Then, once we’ve arrived at an answer, I’ll help you to explain in your own words what we did and why we did it. That explanation becomes a written step-by-step blueprint to follow when we do the next problem.

For me, math is rewarding because there are so many different ways to teach it, and the absolutel best part is the "a-ha!" moment for my students where it all finally clicks.

Best Tutor for Math I Have Ever Had!

He helped me study for all of my Calculus tests and get at least a 90 percent in all of them. He can cover a lot of material in a short amount of time and gets to the point when explaining topics. I have gotten a 100% on my final and got a 95% overall grade for Calculus.

Coby was fantastic to work with! He reached out quickly and was very flexible in scheduling a convenient time. I sent the materials ahead of time, and he came extremely well-prepared. During the session, he covered a lot of material and shared helpful tips and tricks that my son was able to apply right away. The use of the virtual whiteboard was especially effective, it allowed my son to follow along easily, and we were able to print out the notes afterward for further review.
