I'm Emily, and I am a recent graduate of Northwestern University with a major in Economics and a minor in Data Science. I have had 8+ years of tutoring experience for students from middle school to college levels. My experience lies in math from Algebra 1 to Calculus, as well as SAT and ACT prep. I have worked one-on-one with students as well as with small groups. I love discovering ways to accommodate students' individual learning styles and help them achieve their goals. I have built many wonderful bonds with students in the past and am looking forward to meeting and establishing trust with new students!

Over the years, I have found the "I try, we try, you try" approach to be particularly effective for many students. Often this step-by-step progression from demonstrating how to solve an example problem, to working through a problem together, to enabling the student to try a problem independently, has not only strengthened students' understanding of the concept but also made them more confident in their ability to tackle it on their own.

I have access to a variety of SAT/ACT prep resources, including practice tests, workbooks, and problem sets. I scored an 800/800 on the Math section and a 400/400 on the Writing section of the SAT. The highest level of math I have taken is Multivariable Integral Calculus (taken at NU), and I have several years of math tutoring experience, mainly focusing on high school curriculum. I have tutored students in the SAT English and Reading sections - my students have seen improvements from around 280/400 to 360/400 on these sections, as well as high achievement on the real test.
