I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics, specializing in differential equations. I have over two years of tutoring experience through the Varsity Tutors platform, primarily working with senior high school and college students. I have taught College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, and Differential Equations. Through my academic background and tutoring experience, I have developed a strong command of calculus and advanced mathematics, and teaching these subjects has further strengthened my understanding of the material.
My tutoring approach focuses on helping students understand the bigger picture rather than simply memorizing formulas or following procedures. I explain the meaning behind a concept, why the method works, how it connects to other topics, and where it can be applied. For example, when teaching calculus, I connect derivatives to rates of change and integrals to accumulation and real-world applications. I also guide students through problems step by step and encourage them to do the problem-solving themselves, allowing me to identify gaps in their understanding and help them develop independent problem-solving skills.
Over my two years of tutoring, I have helped students improve their understanding and performance in their mathematics courses, including successfully helping students achieve A-level grades. I especially enjoy working with students who initially find mathematics difficult or intimidating. My goal is to make challenging concepts easier to understand by breaking them down into manageable steps, building on what the student already knows, and explaining ideas from different perspectives when necessary. Whether a student needs help with coursework, exam preparation, or strengthening their mathematical foundation, I adapt my teaching to their individual needs and learning style
