I graduated in 2012 with a Masters in School Counseling where I also obtained my type 73 certification. After graduating, I continued to work as substitute teacher, teaching English classes because I received a bachelors degree in English. Although I love writing, and drama, and the English literature, I was determined to fulfill my desire of becoming a counselor so that I could have the opportunity to help students obtain a career that matched their interest. After subbing for PCS for a year, I was offered an opportunity to become a contracted paraprofessional. Although it was not the career I desired, I was determined to be optimistic and continue to grow professionally within the PCS network. I learned so many things about self-perception, building relationships and being productive. After two years, I was offered the opportunity to demonstrate my growth by becoming a Disciplined Life Instructor. Although this opportunity was not the role of a College Counselor, the responsibilities worked hand and hand. Perspectives Charter School is founded upon 26 principals called living a disciplined life. The ADL principles help students handle social, emotional, academic and career situations with the best of their abilities. ADL is designed to help us develop positive self – perception, healthy relationships, and the tools for productivity. I had the opportunity to help teach guidance lessons, hold big group counseling sessions, and use the reality therapy technique to increase students academic, social, and college awareness. I believe that discipline and setting high expectations are needed to be successful in college and in life.

Throughout my years as an educator, I have had the opportunity to develop the writing skills of scholars in every grade level. I have created writing teams to help scholars succeed in reading and writing. With my degree in English, I have come up with ways to helps scholars learn to enjoy writing which has enabled them to express themselves verbally and nonverbally.

Till date, I have
