Hi! I’m a published children’s and young adult author, educator, and writing tutor specializing in college application essays.
I help students write essays that sound like themselves — not like AI, or their parents or teacher, and definitely not like a generic application essay. My focus is on authentic voice: that includes brainstorming, finding the specific story that no one else could write, shaping a clear structure, revising for specificity, and polishing that final draft.
I have an M.Ed. from Northwestern University and years of experience working with students as a teacher, writing coach, and curriculum designer. As an author, I understand how to help writers move from a vague idea to a compelling, well-shaped piece of writing. As an educator, I know how to support students who feel stuck, overwhelmed, unsure what to say, or worried that their writing is not “good enough.”
My approach is warm, collaborative, and ethical. I do not write essays for students or promise admissions outcomes. Instead, I help students discover what they want to say and say it clearly, honestly, and effectively.
I can help with:
Common App personal statements
Supplemental essays
Brainstorming and topic selection
Draft development and structure
Revision and polishing
Short-answer responses
General writing support for middle school, high school, and college students
I especially enjoy helping students find the doorway into their story — the small moment, question, challenge, or experience that reveals who they are. Strong essays are the ones that could only be written by one person.
If your student needs support getting started, strengthening a draft, or polishing an essay while keeping their own voice at the center, I’d be happy to help.
