Hello, I'm Adi! I graduated from MIT with a chemical engineering degree in 2019 (3.5 GPA). I began tutoring in middle school when I was asked to help a group of students from a lower level math class. I have tutored consistently since, growing as a teacher and strengthening my ability to quickly adapt to each student's learning style. I have experience working with a range of students, from four-year-olds developing early math and reading skills to college students working on multivariable calculus. I have two years of experience helping students in math and reading comprehension in an after school learning center. In addition, I have worked with six students independently in the last three years. The subjects I helped with included Elementary math, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, and ACT/SAT prep as I scored in the 99th percentile for both tests.
I like to start a lesson with a review of the material and then answer specific homework questions, followed by practice problems I provide. While seeing a student's scores improve is encouraging and shows me that I am doing my job, the most rewarding part of tutoring for me is watching a student's confidence in the subject and in themselves grow! Math has always been a strength of mine and as an engineer I am confident in my math abilities as well as in the way I communicate math. A deep understanding of the subject allows me to have several teaching approaches in my back pocket, so I am able to adapt and try different methods when a student gets stuck. Feedback I have received is that my passion for the subject is motivating for my students and helps make math less intimidating.
I am happy to provide more information about myself. Feel free to reach out with questions or to schedule a lesson!
