Hello, my name is Shiza! I graduated from Dartmouth College back in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Neuroscience. I grew up in Chicago and have years of experience both as a student and as a tutor. I am very familiar with standardized testing, I've undergone both taking selective enrollment testing to enroll into one of the top high schools in Chicago and took the ACT to gain admittance to a top national college. I began tutoring professionally at Kumon when I was in high school. I taught both English and Math. I later took on students individually to help develop their skills in their goal subjects, specifically elementary school math and English. In college, I tutored in Neuroscience and helped edit papers of students in various classes.
I find tutoring to be very fulfilling and being a student for so much of my life, I value education and conquering subjects that are difficult. Education is truly transformative and I believe every student is capable of being great in a subject, as long as they are willing to work for it. I tutored math at Kumon and received straight As in all of my high school math subjects. I worked one-on-one with a student in fourth grade to help her learn geometry and fractions, along with covering weaknesses in math from previous grades to solidify her understanding.
I specialized in Neuroscience in college and was on the pre-med track, which means that I have taken advanced science classes in Biology and Chemistry. I have also recently taken upper level classes in Organic Chemistry at Northeastern University and took an accelerated Biochemistry course at Loyola University, both of which I received an A in. I am currently enrolled in an Advanced Certificate of Biology program at Northwestern University where I am taking classes in Microbiology and Human Anatomy.
