I have always had a passion for teaching and learning math and science. I studied civil engineering in college at Purdue with a mathematics minor.
I tutored AutoCAD drafting in college as well as AP Physics for high schoolers. For physics, I tutored 1 student and created an individualized study strategy based on the concepts she was struggling with. We would spend lots of time doing practice problems for each concept, and then I would create practice exams to test her knowledge. For drafting, I helped students create floor plans for an apartment complex project. I spent most of my time watching how the student would approach the drawings, and then explaining what would be a more efficient approach using a different tool.
I always encourage students to approach a problem or concept from a different angle when they get stuck. It is very easy for students to get frustrated when studying STEM subjects, so it is important to review studying strategies and reinforce previous concepts before we can solve the more advanced problem they are stuck on. I will create or assign practice problems for students to work on at home to reinforce concepts discussed.
There is a little more information about the subjects I feel comfortable teaching below, but feel free to reach out and ask if there is a subject not listed.
Some of my experience in mathematics in college includes Calculus, Statistics, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Real Analysis, and Probability. I am also familiar with R and Python coding languages, as well as Microsoft Excel.
For high school math, I tutor Algebra I and II, Geometry, PreCalculus, Trigonometry, and Calculus.
In college I studied structural statics and dynamics; physics mechanics, optics and electricity; in chemistry: thermodynamics and mass transfer; and finally for Civil Engineering specific programs I am familiar with ArcGIS and AutoCAD.
For the high school level sciences, I tutor Chemistry, Physics, and Drafting classes.
