My tutoring experience spans 8 years, having tutored at places as diverse as a behavioral center for teens to a private academy for 3 years. I also taught for 3 years at a reputable private school in Chicago. As a tutor and State licensed teacher, my goal is to help students learn how to assess their own work and enable them to make the changes necessary so they can succeed in their exams and coursework. After all my years of tutoring, I have been able to formulate specific and adaptable strategies for SAT/ACT/GMAT/AP English exams that will provide concrete results. I provide tips, effective answer elimination strategies, and general passage-specific strategies to save time and get that top score.

I also help students of all ages improve their writing abilities by focusing on what is being intended and giving the student the tools to express. Writing is a skill that requires constant practice and a healthy amount of feedback. My writing advice is always tailored towards the individual student and locates a few problem areas that consistently occur so as not to overwhelm but breed visible change. I also assist in proofreading completed drafts by providing feedback to improve vocabulary or increase the impact. I've helped edit 100s of college application essays as well as rhetorical, argumentative, and informative essays for Ivy League schools.

I also taught math for 3 years at a private school, focusing on 6-8th grade math curriculum. Math can often be a challenging subject area since it involves conceptual thinking as well as reading skills. I employ routine skill checks to properly assess student learning and conceptual understanding. I also have experience with multi-sensory math, which is an approach that can greatly aid learners with learning disabilities in acquiring grade-level math skills.
