As a full-time Academic Coach and lifelong learner, I leverage unique intellectual range across the humanities, social sciences, and English writing. In four years of professional tutoring, of which the most recent two years have been full-time, I have assisted students in essay writing across dozens of institutions at levels ranging from middle school, to high school/secondary school and college. I have focused on helping students to improve their writing voice, rhetorical technique and prose. As far as elements specific to essay writing, I have improved their ability to conduct formal research, and enabled many of them to self-critique, proofread and edit their own writing independently. The papers I assist my students with invariably receive the highest possible marks and are well-received by teachers and professors.

With proven expertise in helping students develop their skills in literary critique and a personal interest in movies, documentaries and the film-making process, I am capable of enabling any student to explore the world of film and understand the history, importance and purpose of film and how it captures the human experience. I connect my knowledge across each of these fields to teach Sociology in a manner that can help students gain a comprehensive understanding of how people communicate, interact, and live with one another in a complex, dynamic world and achieve results in their studies in the social sciences!

As a Son of the American Revolution and grandson of U.S. Army colonel, I grew up well-situated to take an interest in American History. Visiting Washington D.C. and the Smithsonian frequently in my youth, I was considered a veritable encyclopedia of information by my peers and family members regarding U.S. Presidents, the American Revolution, the Civil War, the Industrial Revolution, American involvement in both World Wars and in the Cold War when I received a near-perfect score on the AP U.S. History exam at age 17. After graduating college with a degree in Global Studies with a focus on geopolitics and American foreign policy, I have tutored dozens students in AP U.S. History, AP U.S. Government and Politics, undergraduate civics and political science courses. My interest in American History is lifelong and my teaching experience and knowledge goes as deep as the average American History post-graduate!

My Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies is a degree in political science with a global focus; a key part of understanding contemporary global politics and global culture is understanding the historical framework that laid the foundation for our modern global society. My son, Jacob, took a college history course that we expected to be a breeze. Instead, the approach taken in the course was confusing to him, and he didn’t know where to start. We reached out to Nick for help, and he was amazing! He came alongside my son and patiently guided him through the various assignments. They met almost daily, and Nick was always able to make time to work with him. I can honestly say that my son would have had to drop the course if Nick hadn’t worked with him.
