Crystal has been studying the flute since age 10. She has studied with Maureen Moller, Dr. Rebecca Johnson, and Mr. Scott Metlicka. In May of 2019, Crystal received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from Eastern Illinois University. While at EIU Crystal participated in the Eastern Illinois Wind Symphony, Eastern Symphony Orchestra, and performed regularly with her trio Etcetera Trio. Active in musical theater. Crystal has also performed in Masterclasses with Dr. Jonathan Keeble and Dr. Erin Torres. Also while at EIU, Crystal spent a semester at Salzburg College in Salzburg, Austria. As an educator, Crystal has studied private teaching pedagogy with Dr. Rebecca Johnson and Dr. Anna Cromwell. Crystal has also taught private flute lessons to students of all ages. She currently teaches at a middle school in Tinley Park, IL. During the summer of 2018, Crystal was an office and convention intern for the National Flute Association in Chicago, Il. In the fall of 2020 Crystal will begin Graduate Studies at Northern Illinois University. She will be working towards a Master's of Music, studying with Mr. Scott Metlicka.

During lessons with Mrs. Crystal, students can expect to learn a variety of fundamental concepts such as tone, technique, rhythm, dynamics, musical expression, vibrato, and correct hand and body positioning. Lessons will also include the learning of standard flute repertoire and history. All of these concepts will be integrated into an individual’s lessons based on the student’s progress. Students will be encouraged to practice the correct way that will lead them to the results they want to hear in their playing.
