My name is Dan R. (he/him). I am a graduate of Oberlin College, having double majored in Biology and Anthropology, with a minor in Chemistry. I've been tutoring in varying capacities for around 2 years cumulatively, with students ranging from middle school to college. I have a broad knowledge base of many subjects, with expertise in biology, organic chemistry, anthropology, and writing. I place great emphasis on helping students understand subject matter from a holistic and comprehensive perspective, teaching them different ways to approach a subject, and helping them to figure out how they learn best. I am friendly and enthusiastic, and love working with students of all ages. I enjoy helping students to understand concepts, make connections, and get excited about learning!

Available subjects for tutoring include biology (and all subfields), chemistry (introductory and organic), anthropology, writing, Spanish, language arts/English (high school level), and percussion & drum set (instruments not provided).

I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. During my time in college I helped out with drop-in tutoring, helping chemistry students learn the basic foundations of the field. I also majored in Anthropology, where I learned a great deal about academic writing and how to present arguments. I have a great deal of research experience as well, which has allowed me to solidify and supplement my understanding of scientific fields with hands-on experience.

I have been playing drums for over 12 years, and I have garnered a great deal of experience with a number of different percussion instruments as well.

I place a lot of emphasis on meeting students where they are, identifying new ways of thinking about concepts that might be difficult for them, and on understanding a subject from a comprehensive perspective, rather than simply providing them with the answers. It is my belief, as a student and an educator, that critical thinking and teaching students in the methods that work best for the
