Hello everyone! My name is Vernon D. and I am a high school social studies educator working with Chicago Public Schools. I graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelors degree in political science, as well as a bachelors degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in social studies. I recently graduated from Concordia University of Chicago with a Masters in Educational Leadership. I strongly believe in a personalized learning experience for students and consistently strive to ensure the learners that I interact with are engaged and getting the most out of interactive lessons. This is my fifth year teaching as a licensed educator.
Reading and writing can be fun if the learner can connect with the text, as well as with what they are being asked to write about. I love reading and writing and I believe that everyone can come to love it as well if they connect with it.
History is my all time favorite subject and that is because of all of the stories that can be discussed and shared! I believe that exposing learners to multiple perspectives and allowing them to formulate their own ideas about historical events is what makes teaching it exiting!
I look forward to working with learners and their families to promote student growth. Don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have!
