Bio

I have been studying the performing arts since I was four years old. I am a singer, pianist, violinist, and actress, and I have a BA in Music and BA in Musical Theatre from Columbia College Chicago. Through teaching, I have had so many wonderful opportunities to share the knowledge that I have gained throughout all my time of being a performing artist. I have been studying the performing arts since I was four years old. I am a singer, pianist, violinist, and actress, and I have a BA in Music and BA in Musical Theatre from Columbia College Chicago. Through teaching, I have had so many wonderful opportunities to share the knowledge that I have gained throughout all my time of being a performing artist. I currently teach private violin, piano, voice, and acting lessons at Allegro Music and Dance Academy. I even had the privilege to assistant direct four summer musicals at the academy. I am the Associate Director for the group Musicality, semi-finalists on AGT season 11. Not only do I assist in making arrangements and teaching music to the group, but I also get to perform at incredible events and venues with them: UNICEF Won't Stop (with Jordin Sparks), Lollapalooza (with Bishop Briggs), KultureBall 2019 (with Marc Martel), the Rosemont Theatre, TEDx with Ari Afsar and Miguel Cervantes (Chi-Hamilton Stars), and at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion with the Chicago Sinfonietta. I have been in numerous music videos with the group and I have led recording sessions. A few videos I have worked on ("This Is Me" and "From Now On") have even gained several million views! I have had the honor to star in the film "First String" as Rebecca Carlisle, and I am reprising my role in the sequel. I have had so many wondrous opportunities to share my craft with others, and I am enthusiastic about sharing even more through teaching.

I have taken several sight-reading and sight-singing classes in college, and it has also been the easiest (and most fun) part of every audition for me. I have perfect pitch and I also greatly understand solfege, intervals, key signatures, time signatures, and I can read notes very well. These are the basics of sight-singing.

I have been playing the violin for about 18 years now. I have gained a lot of knowledge by performing in several orchestras such as CYSO and the Protege Philharmonic Orchestra. I have also been teaching private violin lessons to people of all ages for about the past 4-5 years now, too.

I went to Columbia College Chicago where I received a BA in Music (Voice) and a BA in Musical Theatre. I am also the Associate Director and a member of Musicality, a well known Chicago based vocal ensemble. I have performed in quite a few musicals, and I have been teaching private voice lessons for about the past 4-5 years now.

Sweet and Knowledgeable!.

My daughter is in love with her piano lessons and I can’t be happier to see her learn with enthusiasm. Thanks Kyla for preparing so well for lessons. I thought learning online was not going to be the great experience that is has being. It almost feel as if you are in our house every lesson.

Knowledgeable, patient, and great with kids!

Kyla is very professional, patient, and knowledgeable. She gave me all the info in advance of the first lesson and answered all my questions. My son, age 7, was beaming after the lesson. Two thumbs up for Kyla!

1st Lesson

Today was my daughter’s first vocal lesson with Kyla. My daughter was extremely nervous and Kyla was very reassuring and kind. Kyla was very knowledgeable and walked her through everything. My daughter is thrilled with her new tutor and cannot wait until next week.

Knowledgeable and encouraging teacher!

Just had my first singing lesson with Kyla. We went over the basic singing exercises and worked on pitch matching. She's an incredibly knowledgeable teacher and you can tell she has a real passion for music which she brings to her lessons whole heartedly. I was quite nervous, but she's very encouraging and patient and it was a great lesson. Looking forward to continuing this musical journey with her!
