Hi, I'm Jen!
I am an editor, copywriter, and educator with 10+ years of experience teaching students from ESL beginners to students attending top U.S. and Ivy League universities to doctoral candidates and professionals. Working together will be a collective effort with options to ensure that you share the intended message in your voice, too.
I thrive in one-on-one sessions because helping you put your best foot forward is something I love! Knowing how to structure and express your writing in a clear, concise way so the audience understands clearly is a powerful tool that I want to help you improve.
I have taught lit analysis; critical/analytical research writing; organization (thesis statements, structure, finding/qualifying evidence/sources, references); business English and daily fluency; and ESL per TOEFL expectations.
I have received perfect scores on the writing sections of every standardized exam I have taken, I've worked as an editor for a nonprofit; I’ve been a copywriter for a startup and nonprofit; and I’ve helped Ph.D. candidates successfully organize and edit dissertations and capstone projects. I have degrees in English and Communication, and I presented at two literature conferences before moving abroad for 7 years!
I have a flexible schedule, so please message to work out a time. While I have a 24-hour cancellation/no show charge of half the scheduled time, I know that life happens and all I ask for is open communication. Please understand that this is my livelihood and be as considerate as possible. If there are regular no shows/cancellations, I may recommend finding another tutor- reliability is important to me. If you are contacting me to complete work to receive a grade that is not only editing/tutoring, ethically, I am not interested. I am here to help you create the best possible product, which I work hard to do, but I will not finish schoolwork for you. On these points, I am grateful for your understanding!
I would love an opportunity to see how well we can learn together!

Wonderful personality, intuitive to my needs, engaging and knowledgable tutor

I didn't have a clear picture in mind on how to improve my writing and speaking skills when I first met with Jen. All I knew is that I wanted to write better emails at work and get more comfortable speaking in business meetings. In just two sessions, Jen figured out what's holding me back and came up with various approaches on how to achieve my goals. Jen is a very engaging, resourceful and fun tutor. You know that you hit a jackpot with a teacher when you look forward to the next session with them with excitement.

Smart and kind

My daughter worked with Jen on a mock trial assignment and absolutely loved her knowledge and kindness. She guides without doing the work for her. She teaches which is what my daughter was looking for. Jen is helping her with confidence, writing skills and how the law works. I highly recommend her for students in high school, college or even law school. Very impressed!

Knowledgeable Tutor -- kind and patient...

Jen is an EXCELLENT tutor. She understood immediately what I needed and her editing was just what we were looking for to "spruce up" our annual letter. The session was completed in less than 30 minutes. HIGHLY recommend Jen for any and all English tutoring needs.

Great first impression!

We’ve had our first live interaction with Jen. She provided some helpful tips to help my daughter manage her ADHD. I think Jen is going to make a huge impact on my daughter’s academic achievements and I’m looking forward to our next sessions.

Patient and knowledgeable tutor

She helps me focusing on my weakness areas that I need to improve. She reinforced all the grammar rules by practicing writing and speaking. I love how she structured every lesson.

Outstanding knowledgeable patience tutor

Jen has taught me the basics of paragraph structures as well as different ideas and approach of some awkward sentence writing. I loved how Jen has been patient and working effectively through t times where even my connection fails! Having the right resources have been very much helpful for when trying to align such as APA or other styles.
