Hello there! My name is Kent, and I am a United States Chess Federation Expert-Level player, putting me in the top 3% of all US chess rated players. I have won the Ohio Chess Championship and Cleveland Open, state-wide chess tournaments.

Here are just some chess topics I can work with you on:
-Basic opening theory.
-Basic tactics (Ex: Pins and skewers) and advanced tactics (Ex: Zwischenzug and interference).
-Rules of trading.
-How to assess positions and develop strategic and tactical thinking.
-Checkmate patterns and how to attack/defend.
-Optimizing pawn structures.
-Middlegame strategy.
-Winning Rook, Bishop, and Pawn endgames.

For me, chess is a game that players from any age can enjoy playing and improving. From basic opening principles to middlegame tactics to advanced endgames, I can help improve your chess game with actionable tips and concepts from every engaging lesson. My tutoring style relies on teaching concepts and making sure that the student fully understands the concepts, then provides ways to solidify and applying the understanding of the material. I really enjoy the opportunity to watch my students grow into masters of their subjects.

Please do not hesitate to ask me more specifically the types of questions you have. I will only help in topics that I am well versed in.

Great teacher!!

Great teacher! So far, we have had great learning lessons, and he is very patient and explains in good detail. He has lots of expertise in many fields of chess knowledge, and my understanding of many different concepts, like trading and chess endgame tactics, has increased a lot. I look forward to our next lesson!
