Since 2014, I have been privately tutoring students of all ages in subjects including reading, writing (including college applications), ACT and SAT preparation, ancient languages, and history. During the 2017-2018 school year, I also constructed and taught weekly private vocal music lessons to an elementary school student. I have worked with students ranging in age from elementary school through adult learners.
I completed two years as Head of Reading Curriculum for an ACT preparation program at the University of Chicago. As part of the program, I rewrote the Reading Curriculum for all the instructors and taught weekly classes of 20-30 high school students, with new students taking the class every quarter. I scored a 36 on my ACT Reading section and strive to help students achieve a rounded ACT score that will allow them to pursue their dream educations and careers.
Every passage is a constructed argument, and a good reader can understand and explain that argument and the evidence backing it, whether this explanation takes place in a paper they are writing or occurs while they are answering ACT questions. Reading and writing well are essential skills for students' success, and so I train students of all ages to not only understand passages and texts but to communicate more clearly and effectively in their writing.
