Hi there! My name is Nic and I have been a Private Music Instructor in the Chicagoland area (and online!) for the past six years ever since I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2018. Looking for guitar lessons? Need help with your Music Theory, Ear Training, or Composition classes? Whether you are a complete beginner, or a more experienced music student, I'm here to help! I even have experience as an ESL tutor so if English is your second language and you need help in music school, don't be afraid! I can help with your English, writing papers, and your liberal arts classes in addition to your music studies!

During my time at Berklee and in my career as a musician and educator in Chicago, I have worked with students of all ages and skill levels. I have taught and tutored lessons in Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Drumset, Music Theory, Ear Training, Composition, Counterpoint, Songwriting, and more! I can also help with writing papers as I know first hand that that is a big part of studying in any field in College. As part of my Bachelor's Degree curriculum at Berklee College of Music, I completed 5 different classes on Composition including Counterpoint, Tonal Harmony and Composition, and Contemporary Composition. I am familiar with the rules and procedures of composing in many different styles and would love to help you get started on Composing or help improve your composition skills!

During my time at Berklee and as a Private Music Instructor for the past six years, I have always made sure to keep the Drumset in my life as a performer, recording musician, and educator. I have played Drums for over 10 years and have taught lessons on Drums to students of all ages and skill levels. I have both recorded and performed on drums professionally with many artists in the Chicagoland area. While I am mainly based in the Pop/Rock style of things, I am more than happy to help students of all skill levels improve their rhythms and find their love for drums along the way!

As part of my Bachelor's degree curriculum at Berklee College of Music, I have taken four levels of Ear Training and am very familiar and competent in college and professional level Music Theory and Ear Training. I found I had a real knack for the core music curriculum at Berklee and would love to help you with identifying intervals, chord qualities, and transcribing all by using just your ear! I can also help direct you to many different online resources to help you improve your ear as well as walk you through my techniques.

At Berklee College of Music, I worked with students from all over the world (China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Dominican Republic, Ukraine) to help them with the ESL skills so that they could succeed in their studies in College. Having graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2018 with an Undergraduate degree in Professional Music, I have had extensive experience as a Private Music Instructor over the past six years working with students of all ages and skill levels. I am familiar with all of the music classes that a music school teaches including Harmony, Theory, Ear Training, Composition, Counterpoint, Music History, and more. I personally loved music school and would be happy to pass on my expertise, knowledge, and enthusiasm to any student who needs it!

I have studied guitar for 10+ years and completed my undergraduate degree in Professional Music (Music Business and Performance) at Berklee College of Music in 2018. During my time at Berklee College of Music, I minored in Africana Studies / American Music History. As part of this program, I wrote many essays and papers regarding my education in this field. Many music students can be too busy with their performance or core music studies to truly appreciate and allocate the time needed for their Music History classes, but I am here to help manage that part of your education as well! I am knowledgeable in Classical European Music History, American Music History, Recording Music History, and even a bit of Indian Music History and Culture!

I have been recording music as a Producer, Guitarist, Drummer, Bassist, and Songwriter for over 10 years. I know first hand the process of professionally recording and producing music all the way from songwriting stages, early demos, potential collaboration with others, and of course to the end product of a fully mixed and mastered piece of music and have done so on over 100 recordings. Frankly, recording music is my absolute favorite part of being a musician. I would love to help any musician at any skill level improve their production and recording skills in any way possible!

During my time at Berklee and as a Private Music Instructor, I personally went through the challenges of learning to Sight Sing! I know first hand how difficult it can be for new music students, but also just how important it is for musicians of all kinds! I went through 2 years of rigorous Sight Singing classes at Berklee and excelled in all of my tests and studies in those classes. I would love to help you Sight Sing and go through the motions of Ear Training in order to ensure you succeed in your music studies!
Songwriting

At Berklee College of Music, I originally stared as a Songwriting major and have studied many different techniques of songwriting including Song Structure, Lyric Writing, and Collaborative Songwriting. Additionally, I am currently a main songwriter in two groups (Three Oh Go + Calico Plaid) and have been a recording and performing musician for most of my life. I would love to help you with your songwriting so you can achieve your goals! Often times an outside perspective can help get you out of a slump!
