Hello! My name is Janett, I ask, and expect students to fully engage with the subject material by remaining open to experimentation, establishing a keen critical exchange among their peers and working hard in the classroom. I am articulate, passionate, and well-informed. I have more than 10 years teaching both in person and online. My teaching experience is well grounded working in middle schools and high schools in Mexico and in the U.S. and teaching at the University of South Florida.
I have received my Bachelors and Masters degree in Studio Art and received a minor in Art History. During my time teaching Intro to Art History and Film Arts History, I have had the privilege of helping students with their essays by proofreading their work and assist with the evaluation of student essays evaluating a grammar and content rubric provided by and assist him/her with the final project by providing a preliminary evaluation sheet for his/her students’ final project submissions.
Visually literacy is the basis for teaching. I find it natural to teach the language of image through the English language. This method helps students have easier access exploring all the creative possibilities of learning a language. Designing functions as a cohesive element, ultimately I hope my students will come away with a new understanding that will allow them to transfer what they have learned to a variety of mediums by giving them the tools to express their own ideas.
