I have nine years of experience tutoring students at Truman College and at Northeastern Illinois University, where I earned my Master's degree in English. I have worked with disabled students, first-generation students, and students at all different levels of knowledge and expertise. I have nine years of experience tutoring students at Truman College and at Northeastern Illinois University, where I earned my Master's degree in English. I have worked with disabled students, first-generation students, and students at all different levels of knowledge and expertise. I love research, and I greatly enjoy helping students reach their potential in writing.
My approach to tutoring is very much customized to the student, but I focus on creating proactive solutions and action steps for students to improve. I also have created resource guides for problems with reading and writing. These guides include tips as well as websites and YouTube videos to help visual and auditory learners, as I work to accommodate my tutoring approach to different learning styles.
I have exceptional empathy with students over their struggles with writing. When I first got to college, I got a mediocre grade on a paper from a tough English professor, and that set me on the path to become the writer I am today.
Today, I have won multiple honors from my graduate English department, including Assistantships, merit tuition waivers, and the highest possible grade on my Master's thesis. I love writing, I am enthusiastic and detail-oriented, and I love helping students succeed. I look forward to hearing from you, and feel free to contact me with tutoring requests and questions!!
