My passion for teaching extends beyond the classroom. I have been involved with teaching young people life and academic skills for over 20 years now. My greatest joy in teaching has been the light bulb moment when I can see that a student grasped the concepts and skills that I have taught. Investing in a student and seeing them succeed is the reasons I have done and continue to do what I do. In conjunction with a teaching certificate I also have Master's in Educational Counseling. These two degrees have afforded me to be able to assist students with academic, vocational and college/career aspirations. My goal is to help my students reach their full potential in every area of their lives. I have tutored students individually over the past 14 years outside of my regular classroom sessions. I am very proficient in my ability to motivate and get the best out of my students.

My official teaching has been in the Chicago Public School system in a racially diverse high school in Chicago. I have taught the basics of English and reading skills coupled also with ACT preparation for the English, Reading, and Writing portion of the test. Students in the school I taught at would search my class out because they knew I had the reputation of producing higher scores on the ACT test. I not only teach test taking skills, but I also teach how to approach and take the test to achieve maximum results.
