Formerly a peer reviewer for the US Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice Diversion Programs. Currently the Forum Coordinator for the Project Safe Neighborhoods Chicago gun violence reduction program. Work experience includes serving as a Juvenile Detention Officer in Cook County, IL and Government Affairs Coordinator for the City Colleges of Chicago.

I am a life-long student of history, and consider myself a continuing learner as well as a tutor. I believe I have a unique ability to demystify and boil down the interesting yet complex subject matter into a cohesive, comprehensive chunks while hopefully stoking a genuine affection for civics and history. Please only contact me for tutoring and HELP--not papers written on demand, or answers to exam questions.

Approved Subjects

American History

American History

I am a former civic engagement educator for the University of Illinois Extension, and I hold a law degree from DePaul University College of Law. I am a very strong Constitutional scholar, and I can break American History down into understandable pieces.
Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice

I have a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and juris doctorate in law to go with six years of criminal justice experience; specifically in institutional corrections and community corrections. I have served as a peer reviewer/evaluator. For grant proposals from law enforcement agencies using the latest evidence-based programs, which affords me in-depth expertise in the latest trends and research in the field.
Government & Politics

Government & Politics

I am a former civic engagement educator and a graduate of DePaul University's College of Law (2002). I've been studying civics/government/social studies for most of my life.
Political Science

Political Science

I was a civic engagement and public policy educator for the University of Illinois Extension, and this makes me very prepared to tutor and instruct students on political theory. I have worked on presidential campaigns and in governmental affairs divisions for the City Colleges of Chicago, so I have practical political experience that I can call upon to underscore my lessons.
Social Studies

Social Studies

Social studies is my favorite core subject, the grasp of which opened up the doors to criminal justice, law, criminology, and sociology. I enjoy the interplay between history, law, and society; the knowledge of which is essential to being an engaged citizen. I also believe that reading comprehension and essay writing skills are strengthened when civic education is a substantial part of the curriculum, and is a perfect vehicle for teaching critical thinking skills.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

What I like about Michael is he meets me where I am at, and breaks the subject down for me in a way that’s easy to understand. Not having much prior knowledge of criminal law beforehand, he is very helpful at teaching me concepts in a way I can easily remember.
