Currently the Forum Coordinator for the Project Safe Neighborhoods Chicago gun violence reduction program. Work experience includes serving as a Juvenile Detention Officer in Cook County, IL and Government Affairs Coordinator for the City Colleges of Chicago.

Social studies is my favorite core subject, the grasp of which opened up the doors to criminal justice, law, criminology, and sociology. I enjoy the interplay between history, law, and society; the knowledge of which is essential to being an engaged citizen. I also believe that reading comprehension and essay writing skills are strengthened when civic education is a substantial part of the curriculum, and is a perfect vehicle for teaching critical thinking skills.

What I like about Michael is he meets me where I am at, and breaks the subject down for me in a way that’s easy to understand. Not having much prior knowledge of criminal law beforehand, he is very helpful at teaching me concepts in a way I can easily remember.
