I am a certified French and English educator with more than 20 years of experience in education. I bring together my academic background, professional teaching experience, and personal connection to the French language to make learning engaging, meaningful, and rewarding.

My entire education prior to High school was conducted in French, giving me a strong academic and cultural foundation in the language. I understand firsthand what it means to learn, communicate, and think across different languages and cultures.

I earned my BA in French from Loyola University Chicago in 2002. I also studied abroad at the University of Aix-En-Provence in France. I also hold a Master of Arts in Secondary Education and an endorsement in English Language Learning (ELL).

Throughout my teaching career, I have taught French at the middle school and high school levels, working with students in grades 6–12. I taught French I, II, III, IV, and Advanced Placement (AP) French. Additionally, I have experience in teaching ELL, American History, English, and English Composition.

My tutoring approach is personalized, interactive, and student-centered. I believe language learning should go beyond memorizing vocabulary and completing grammar exercises. Students need opportunities to speak, listen, read, write, and develop confidence using the language in authentic situations. I incorporate practical conversations, pronunciation exercises, vocabulary development, grammar instruction, cultural activities, and real-world examples into my lessons.

Whether a student is just beginning French, struggling with a particular concept, preparing for an exam, working toward AP French, or looking to improve conversational fluency, I tailor each lesson to their individual goals, strengths, and learning style. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and taking risks as they learn.

Knowledgeable and very patient

Mr. Miller seems to be a very good fit for my high school daughter. He knows the language but most importantly he knows how to teach. In the first lesson he took the time to understand what she really understood and what she did not from French 1 last year. With a plan moving forward, we look forward to his help through out this school year.

Jumped in to support when needed in a crunch

My daughter was struggling and stressed the night before a French 4 quiz, and, never trying a tutor in this area before, we reached out to Miller. He made himself available in short order to answer all those questions weighing on her, was patient with her about what she admittedly did not know and got her back on track. She has now scheduled weekly sessions with him and is looking forward to them.
