I am a retired teacher, private tutor and adjunct professor with a love of teaching and learning. I have over twenty years teaching experience and over ten years private tutoring experience. I am qualified to tutor in all subject areas with special emphasis on reading, writing, math, science and executive function/test taking skills. I nurture strong relationships with my clients. I am a retired teacher, private tutor and adjunct professor with a love of teaching and learning. I have over twenty years teaching experience and over ten years private tutoring experience. I am qualified to tutor in all subject areas with special emphasis on reading, writing, math, science and executive function/test taking skills. I nurture strong relationships with my clients. I specialize in reluctant and/or disillusioned students and am successful in making my students love learning again. I cultivate a safe environment while making sure my students understand content, processes and methodology. My students are encouraged to ask questions and I am able to meet students’ different learning styles so students learn and make connections. I make sure students understand as I make learning fun!

During my over 20 years of teaching, I have taught children in grades pre-k through 8th grade in all subject areas. I have also coached elementary school teachers in science and math.

I have a Master's degree in education from National Louis University, I have taught in elementary school for over 20 years and have been a tutor for over five years. I I am licensed to teach in the state of Illinois.

I have worked as a math and science teacher and math/science coach for over twenty years. I am an adjunct professor In math methods. I have tutored children who believe math is 'not for them' and have had success in giving them the confidence to believe they can do math by breaking down concepts into manageable 'chunks.' I have experience with math dyscalculia. I think with the right approach, the willingness to keep trying different methods and imparting to the student and parents that progress in math is attainable, my students can learn and be excited by their own achievement.

I am licensed to teach in Illinois and am endorsed in social studies. Knowledgeable and patient tutor

My 13 year old son struggled in math for years and felt like he could never be good at math. After failing the second half of 6th grade math, I found Laura and asked her to work with my son. Laura took time getting to know my son and identified his learning style and how best to teach him math. He no longer dreads math homework and is beginning to be confident in his math abilities.
