They include eight "Emmy" awards, the "Cardinal's Communication Award" from Joseph Cardinal Bernardin, a William Benton Fellowship from the University of Chicago (awarded on an annual basis to 12 journalists worldwide) a National Association of Black Journalists 'Salute to Excellence Award,' two 'Gold Bell' awards from the Mental Health Association in Illinois, 'The Centennial Medal' from the Chicago Lighthouse For The Blind and Visually Impaired (other recipients include former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley) a "JWOD Media Award" for coverage of disability issues, a "William Randolph Hearst Award," a "Silver Dome" Award from the Illinois Broadcasters' Association and I was a finalist for the "Peter Lisagor Award for Exemplary Journalism."
My specialty areas include health and medical, personality profiles, education, community affairs, veterans'issues and family concerns as well as applications for college,internships and fellowships.
I have also taught writing on the college level, and I'm an experienced writing tutor.
Regardless of who you are or what you do, writing is a vital and wonderful skill.
I believe learning to write can be fun, fascinating and never boring. I want my students to love writing as much as I do!
