My name is Kira, and I have been working as an educator of English, art, and music for 11 years. While earning two master's degrees in San Francisco, I led a team of graduate student tutors in our Academic Resource Center and provided advanced writing workshops to upper level students. I have also held five separate Teaching Assistantships where I have been given the opportunity to help students with studying and organization skills, as well as with content and structure of writing. I also have extensive experience and training teaching both ESL and students with learning difficulties.
My goal as a teacher is to foster a love and curiosity of knowledge and provide strategic steps for problem solving. Next year I will be pursuing a doctoral degree in Modern Thought and Literature. I believe that education and public critical thought are most important at a young age, and I seek to prepare students for rigorous studies. My students stayed with me for the duration of their coursework and consistently reported significant increases in both scores and overall understanding of material.
