Hi! My name is Alex D. I just graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 2011. I have been teaching 2nd grade at LEARN Charter School is South Chicago. I am part of the Teach for America Chicago Corps and it has been one of the most amazing and rewarding experiences of my life.

I have worked with children my entire life. Seeing children working hard and ultimately getting smart along the way is what makes me tick. I love watching the students I teach and tutor grow as scholars, but also into young adults. I do not only focus on helping children becoming academically capable, I focus on creating a whole child. What does that mean you ask? It is my goal to help children learn about and deal with the obstacles the world around them can pose. I think it is important to create a strong, level headed child, even at a young age.

I specialize in a number of subjects. I can help with any elementary subject. I would do so in a hands-on, enthusiastic way. I think merely staring at a pencil and paper is not as helpful as experiencing the work with manipulative items and enthusiasm.

I can also be a coach for children in baseball, basketball, or football. I am an athletic 23 year old and I have played sports my entire life.
