I am a patient tutor with almost twenty years of experience teaching science, math, and data science. Over multiple years, I have consistently been among the top 1% of tutors on Wyzant.

The majority of my tutoring is teaching graduate students and professionals computer programming, statistics, and database development. I also help high school and undergraduate college students with science, math, and computer programming. I specialize in data analytics for business and all sciences as well as instruction for biology, chemistry, ecology, marine biology, and oceanography.

At university, I majored in biology and minored in chemistry and mathematics. During this time I was a general tutor and a biology teaching assistant; ultimately, graduating with honors. In graduate school, I've been an instructor for labs, as well as a teaching assistant and then instructor for active learning, gen-ed biology course.

Immediately after graduating with my BS, I worked with the US government on environmental issues in the Caribbean. Throughout grad school, I continued to work on environmental problems in the United States, Central America, and Asia.

I am also a PADI dive master and AAUS certified science diver. I have a passion for coral reef ecology and marine ecosystems.

For over 10 years, I have taught undergrad and graduate students as well as professionals and post-docs. I specialize in data analysis for all sciences and for business applications. I help students with data wrangling, analysis, and visualizations. In terms of analysis, I provide tutoring for descriptive and inferential techniques, both classical frequentist Null-Hypothesis Statistical Testing (NHST) and Bayesian data analysis, sampling theory, experimental design, analysis and interpretation, F-statistics and T-tests, p-values, confidence intervals, power calculations, robustness checks, information criterion, multi-level models, as well as model comparison and model selection. I provide tutoring not only for the theory associated with these topics but also how to run the analyses using R/RStudio. I have logged thousands of hours tutoring R on Wyzant.

Knowledgeable and Accommodating

I had no coding or R experience before meeting Eric, but through our lessons, I was able to learn the basics of R, how to re-organize data into the appropriate format, how to conduct statistical analyses (e.g., ANOVA), and so on! Eric is really knowledgeable and competent with the material he is tutoring in. He is also flexible with the lesson plan based on your needs, goals, money/time situation , and so on!
