I am a patient tutor with almost twenty years of experience teaching science, math, and data science. Over multiple years, I have consistently been among the top 1% of tutors on Wyzant.

The majority of my tutoring is teaching graduate students and professionals computer programming, statistics, and database development. I also help high school and undergraduate college students with science, math, and computer programming. I specialize in data analytics for business and all sciences as well as instruction for biology, chemistry, ecology, marine biology, and oceanography.

At university, I majored in biology and minored in chemistry and mathematics. During this time I was a general tutor and a biology teaching assistant; ultimately, graduating with honors. In graduate school, I've been an instructor for labs, as well as a teaching assistant and then instructor for active learning, gen-ed biology course.

Immediately after graduating with my BS, I worked with the US government on environmental issues in the Caribbean. Throughout grad school, I continued to work on environmental problems in the United States, Central America, and Asia.

I am also a PADI dive master and AAUS certified science diver. I have a passion for coral reef ecology and marine ecosystems.

Exceptional tutor

Eric has been tutoring and coaching me on using R for various analyses I have to complete for my PhD program. He is exceptional because he has the rare combination of deep expertise and great communication and teaching skills to help a novice like me understand the concepts and coding. He is also very patient. I am very glad I have Eric as a guide on my academic journey.

Expert knowledge, very clear communicator

Eric is an awesome tutor. He knows R very well and he prepares in advance for each session so we are able to make great progress. He's a great communicator and teacher too. I never feel like he is talking down to me, even when I get confused about a point that is probably so simple to him.

Highly Recommended Tutor

Eric is an amazing tutor because he takes the time to actually explain concepts and make everything make sense. I came into statistics knowing nothing about R studio or having any grasp on codes and once I began lessons with Eric, I actually started understanding rather than just attempting to copy and paste. I do not think I would have made it through my semester of graduate statistics if it were not for Eric so I would highly recommend him to any perspective students having difficulty that could use someone incredibly knowledgable and patient.

Knowledgeable and Accommodating

I had no coding or R experience before meeting Eric, but through our lessons, I was able to learn the basics of R, how to re-organize data into the appropriate format, how to conduct statistical analyses (e.g., ANOVA), and so on! Eric is really knowledgeable and competent with the material he is tutoring in. He is also flexible with the lesson plan based on your needs, goals, money/time situation , and so on! Highly recommend!

Knowledgeble, patient and attentive

Eric helped me review some basic functions in Rstudio and was clear in his explanations. As a new student to coding, I have learned more from Eric in one hour than I have learned from my self studies over the past two months. He is a good match for my requirements to learn RStudio and I will continue to use Eric in the near future for additional lessons. I highly recommend Eric.
