Hello everyone!

I am a writer and English teacher living and working in downtown Chicago. I have a B.F.A. from Baylor University and last year received my M.F.A . in Fiction from the University of Oregon. I most recently taught Freshman Comp at UO and Intro to Fiction. I've taught high school English and Drama in the public school system and have created lesson plans and substitute taught in every grade. I raised three daughters who together received millions in college scholarships and attended Dartmouth, Wellesley and DePaul. I have a talent for helping students prepare for choosing the perfect college and for writing that elusive essay, which is all about you! Writing about yourself can be difficult but I've helped many people navigate this time in their lives.

I am well read, have a lot of energy and know how to to teach to the individual child and specific learning needs. I am open to tutoring all ages and my knowledge lies in the Humanities. English, Creative Writing, Photography, History, Reading, and Writing.
Open to tutoring adults as well, if anyone wants to learn to craft a strong short story, novel idea, or screenplay.

My teaching style is down to earth and engaging, I have a big personality but am able to read the room and adjust my teaching style to match my student. Don't worry introverts!

I look forward to helping you achieve your goals!

Photography

Photography

I have been a portrait photographer for the past five years. When I was teaching English in Fort Worth, I started doing Senior Portraits and that's how my business began. I work as a photography here in Nashville by appointment only now and currently have two documentary projects in the works. Most of my photography involves people, and I have traveled across the U.S. and Africa documenting people's lives. I shoot with Canon equipment, and work on a Mac book in Photoshop and Lightroom to edit.
Theater

Theater

I have a deep love for theatre, shaped by my BFA from Baylor University and my continuing professional work as a voice actor. My training has given me a strong foundation in character development, vocal technique, and authentic storytelling, skills I love passing on to my students. Whether someone needs help with monologue choices, audition prep, script analysis, or building stage presence, I bring both technical expertise and real-world experience. My goal is to help each actor find their strongest, truest voice and step into every role with confidence.
Writing

Writing

Writing is a passion of mine, and teaching writing is a wonderful bonus. I get to help students uncover the voice that’s been theirs all along. Over the years, I’ve taught in public schools and worked with college students at the University of Oregon, giving me a deep understanding of what strong, compelling writing looks like at every stage. My passion is helping students craft unforgettable Statements of Purpose, or essays by honing their story, sharpening their structure, and building a bold, clear voice.
