Bio

I've worked as a full-time, professional tutor for the last eighteen years.

In the field of test prep, my areas of specialty include GRE, GMAT, SAT, ACT, and AP exams in history, human geography, and language. I have helped between two to three thousand students improve their scores on these tests. I direct SAT summer camps for two international organizations, and I write SAT materials for a major test prep company.

Though I have an extensive liberal arts background, I am equally adept at tutoring algebra, algebra II, geometry, and advanced arithmetic. In fact, for the last thirteen years, a significant portion of my tutoring business has consisted of adults who need to relearn complicated math to apply to graduate programs.

Furthermore, I regularly help clients of all ages with application essays, usually sixty per year. My clients have won acceptance to nearly every major university in the US and several in Europe.

As a writer, I've published sixteen books, one of which recently reached #1 in the Amazon Free Kindle store. To other writers, I provide light proofreading, heavy developmental editing, full-on ghostwriting. In the last seven years, I have also written many exams in AP European History, AP World History, AP Human Geography, and AP Language.

Tutors must tread the fine line between friend and authority. While some may find this uncomfortable, it's the perfect place for my particular skills: equal parts personality and intellect.

Before entering education, I worked in the film industry as a professional script reader, in high-tech as a sales writer, and in journalism at The Washington Post.

I was awarded a full-tuition scholarship to The Catholic University of America, where I earned both an M.A. in rhetoric and composition and a B.A. in literature. I graduated magna cum laude and was designated a University Scholar for my excellence in the honors program. I also spent a year studying at Oxford University, England.

Excellent

I am glad to have Mr Jason as my tutor. He is very knowledgeable, very experienced and very patient. He is also very flexible to accommodate my plan. I highly recommend him if you need a tutor for SAT

Flexible

I have boy/girl twins that are entering their senior year. One does ok with tests and one does not. Jason was able to prepare them for the SAT at their appropriate level. He was able to fit his tutoring sessions with our crazy schedule. My kids enjoyed their interactions with him. The true benchmark of this experience will be their test scores. (Unfortunately, those aren't available yet). Overall, I am happy that we chose Jason from Wyzant.

Prepared and Goal Oriented Tutor

I had my first tutoring session with Jason yesterday, and I was so pleasantly surprised. I have done various tutoring programs before, but this was more curriculum based which is perfect for the GRE. I did not have to scramble to find which sections I needed help on or what questions I had for him. He already had a lesson plan ready. Highly recommend.

Came through for college Jr. when he needed it most

The switch to online classes and a person al set back really through my son, a History major, for a loop. Jason was extremely knowledgeable in that and other subjects and his clear and concise directions and work planning allowed son to finish strong and get his mojo back. Really appreciate the professionalism and confidence building.

Great Tutor, Highly Recommended

Jason helped me with some last minute GRE tutoring. He was patient and helpful, putting the material in terms that could be easily understood. All of my scores went up, I would definitely recommend Jason as a tutor.

Very knowledgeable and patient

It's only been one session, but there a several takeaways which my son expressed from his first experience with Jason. Jason worked at a pace that my son was able to follow and clearly grasp specific learning concepts and tips. My son feels more confident and empowered to use these tools and add to them to help meet his testing goals. He's looking forward to continue working with Jason and building on what's he's learned so far.

Great tutor!

I set up a session with Jason for the day before my GRE exam and he helped me to feel much more prepared for the Quantitative Reasoning section. Beforehand I sent him the topics I wanted to brush up on and he came prepared with specific example questions and strategies for me - this allowed us to get through quite a bit in 1.5 hours. Highly recommend him for a direct and applicable approach!

Confidence Builder

Jason knows his subject very well, and makes it easy to understand. We felt much was covered in the time period that was spent. Just like having your own teacher!!!
