I've worked as a full-time, professional tutor for the last 20 years.

In the field of test prep, my areas of specialty include GRE, GMAT, SAT, ACT, and AP exams in U.S. History, European History, World History, Human Geography, and Language. In the field of test prep, my areas of specialty include GRE, GMAT, SAT, ACT, and AP exams in U.S. History, European History, World History, Human Geography, and Language. I have helped 2000 to 3000 students improve their scores on these exams. I direct SAT summer camps for two international organizations, and I write SAT materials for a major test prep company.

Though I have an extensive liberal arts background, I am equally adept at tutoring algebra, algebra II, geometry, and advanced arithmetic. In fact, for the last thirteen years, a significant portion of my tutoring business has consisted of adults who need to relearn complicated math to apply to graduate programs.

Furthermore, I regularly help clients of all ages with college application essays, usually sixty per year. My clients have won acceptance to nearly every major university in the US and several in Europe.

I've written or edited 60+ books, and recently I opened a small publishing company. To clients, I provide light proofreading, heavy developmental editing, and full-on ghostwriting. In the last seven years, I have also written many exams in AP European History, AP World History, AP Human Geography, and AP Language.

Tutors must tread the fine line between friend and authority. While some may find this uncomfortable, it's the perfect place for my particular skills: equal parts personality and intellect.

Before entering education, I worked in the feature film industry as a professional script analyst, in high-tech as a sales writer, and in journalism at The Washington Post.

I was awarded a full-tuition scholarship to The Catholic University of America, where I earned both an M.A. in rhetoric and composition and a B.A. in literature. I graduated magna cum laude and was designated a University Scholar for my excellence in the honors program. I also spent a year studying at Oxford University, England.

In my life, I have spent several years living abroad in Europe and the UK, including a stint at Oxford University. I have also authored several books about the European continent, most of which were published through my own small publishing company.
