I have taught for over two decades, including classroom instruction as well as tutoring from children to adults. I tutored one-on-one in Massachusetts, New York, Taiwan, and Nicaragua. For adult learners, I generally find a topic that interests a student and develop the lesson around that with meaningful vocabulary as well as grammar and speaking. For children and teenagers, I focus on mostly academic content. I successfully tutored two doctors for the TOEFL Speaking Component, which helped them secure scholarships in Nicaragua.
My main focus is teaching meaningful language to help learners develop proficiency in English as well as the confidence to speak and write. I use short articles with advanced learners, for example, to develop conversational skills.
