I hold a Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida, where I completed extensive coursework in calculus, statistics, linear algebra, and applied mathematics as part of my engineering training. I am currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Arizona Global Campus, which has further strengthened my quantitative and analytical skills. I am also a native Spanish speaker, having grown up speaking the language at home, which gives me strong command of grammar, vocabulary, and conversational fluency that I can pass on to students learning Spanish as a second language.
My tutoring background includes experience as a Kumon instructor, where I worked one on one with children on math fundamentals using Kumon's structured, self paced method that builds skills incrementally through repetition and mastery before moving on to more advanced concepts. I have also worked independently as a freelance tutor, helping students with basic math, pre algebra, and algebra in a one on one setting tailored to each child's pace and learning style. Through both experiences, I worked primarily with children ranging from elementary school through middle school age, helping them build confidence with foundational math skills and preparing them for more advanced coursework.
I most enjoy working with kids and am especially interested in tutoring elementary and middle school students in basic math, pre algebra, and algebra, as well as Spanish at a conversational and academic level. My engineering background gives me a solid grasp of how math concepts build on one another, and my Kumon and freelance tutoring experience has taught me how to break problems into manageable steps, identify where a student is struggling, and adjust my explanations so concepts click. I aim to create a patient, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and build genuine confidence in their abilities.
