I hold an MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) and a BA in English with a concentration in Writing and Rhetoric from Florida Atlantic University. My academic background includes extensive study of writing, literature, research, rhetoric, and textual analysis. For nearly three years, I taught introductory college writing courses as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. In the classroom, I developed and delivered lessons, workshops, discussions, and group activities covering the writing process, argumentation, research, organization, rhetorical analysis, revision, and effective written communication.
During the same period, I worked one-on-one with college students as a Writing Consultant at FAU’s University Center for Excellence in Writing. I supported students at all stages of the writing process, from brainstorming and thesis development to research, organization, revision, and final drafts. My approach is collaborative and inquiry-based: rather than simply correcting a student’s work, I ask questions, explain concepts, and help students develop the critical-thinking skills needed to identify and solve problems independently. I have experience supporting a variety of writing assignments and helping students strengthen their reading comprehension, analysis, and written expression.
I believe effective tutoring should meet students where they are while helping them become more confident and independent learners. My teaching and tutoring experience has taught me to adapt explanations and strategies to different learning needs, whether I am working one-on-one, facilitating a classroom discussion, or supporting younger students. I aim to create a patient, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, working through challenging material, and developing skills they can apply beyond a single assignment.
