Hello! I’m Wesley, a bilingual (EN/SP) architecture and structural engineering professional with over 5 years of industry experience bridging design and engineering. I hold a Bachelor of Environmental Design, a Master of Architecture, and a Master of Science in Structures from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Throughout my academic and professional career, I have worked in architectural design, structural engineering, building systems coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration. My goal is to help students not only solve problems, but also understand the reasoning behind them so they become confident, independent learners.
Although my experience has been primarily in professional practice rather than full-time classroom teaching, mentoring and technical guidance have always been central to my work. I have helped university students, interns, and colleagues understand structural concepts, design principles, software workflows, and professional expectations through 1-1 discussions, project reviews, and collaborative problem-solving. Students often come to me for help with design studio projects, structural analysis, building systems, portfolio reviews, graduate school preparation, and connecting classroom concepts to professional practice. I adapt every lesson to each student’s background, learning style, and goals while creating a supportive, engaging, and practical learning environment.
My tutoring focuses on architecture design studios, structural engineering for architecture students, architecture concepts for engineering students, interdisciplinary building systems, portfolio and résumé reviews, and graduate school preparation. Rather than emphasizing memorization, I focus on critical thinking, practical application, and helping students understand how architecture and engineering come together in real projects. My goal is for every student to leave each session with greater confidence, stronger problem-solving skills, and a deeper appreciation for the built environment.
