I bring 20 years of classroom experience teaching physics to high school students, from introductory Conceptual and Regular Physics through Honors, AP Physics 1, and AP Physics C. I've worked with students across the full range of preparation — from those building basic algebra and problem-solving skills to those tackling calculus-based mechanics and electricity & magnetism. I hold a Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of Illinois Chicago, an Ed.M. in Teacher Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and undergraduate and graduate engineering degrees from the Florida Institute of Technology and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I'm also a National Board-Certified Teacher.
My approach centers on building understanding from the ground up rather than pattern-matching to problem types — starting with the underlying concept before moving to diagrams, equations, and multi-step problem solving. I help students translate word problems into free-body diagrams and motion graphs, set up equations from first principles, and reason through multiple-choice and free-response questions, including AP exam prep. I adjust my explanations to how each student thinks, whether that means more visual representations, hands-on analogies, or extra work on foundational math.
Physics isn't just a subject I teach—it's one I find genuinely elegant, and I want students to leave each session with more confidence and curiosity about how the physical world works, not just the answer to the problem in front of them. Whether you're catching up on missed concepts, aiming for a top AP score, or trying to stop dreading physics class, I'd like to help you get there.
