As a learner who needed unique teaching approaches in some subjects growing up, I know how important a teacher who is patient and listening can be! I have a BS in Conservation Biology, minor in Writing from a SUNY. In this program, I was certified with Project Learning Tree and Project Wild, two environmental education guides. Currently, I am perusing a nursing degree.

Past some one on one tutoring experience in high school, most of my teaching experience has been in a more group setting. I worked for two years with an outreach environmental education programs preparing and leading lessons at libraries for a small group of mostly elementary-aged learners. In this, my teaching and lesson planning style mainly relied upon conversations with the students, inquiry, and hands-on activities. I have also worked at two summer camps -- one at a zoo and one at a nature museum -- which included lesson planning, camper engagement and short lessons on environmental topics. I also TA'd a class for two years in college, and I really enjoyed working with this older age range. Despite this group work, I believe the best classroom learning is individualized, and I have always taken the time to work with individual learners in these group settings. This hands-on approach to teaching groups has brought me an interest in one on one tutoring to focus on individual students.
